E- 7: The calling of David
Word: 1 Samuel 16:11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered, “but he is tending the sheep,” Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
Today's word is that Samuel will visit Jesse in order for God to abandon Saul and choose the next king, and Samuel will go to do it and call David. And in the next verse, Samuel anointed to David by the Lord's orders. The calling of David is not directly done by God, but through Samuel the prophet, and is not immediately assigned a mission. However, David, who has received Confucianism, behaves in proportion to this. He talks to Philistines, who insulted God's army in battle with Philistine, bring out a sword and a spear, to remove the disgrace of his homeland, Israel. 1 Samuel 17:45b says "I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied." David, who thus anointed, glorified the name of God, and he is with David. So David wins every battle and eventually becomes the king of Israel who has come to the age of 30. And he rule for 40 years. 2 Samuel 5:10 says "And he became more and more powerful, because the Lord God Almighty was with him." And God says through the prophet Nathan in 7:3. "Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the Lord is with you." Again, through Nathan, The Lord gives the mission to David. In 7:5a, "Go and tell my servant David, This is what the Load says: Are you the one to build me a house to dwell in." Then David follows the order and prepares everything for the construction of the cathedral. And he's going to win all the battle after that's going to happen (8:6 and 14). And The Lord gives a blessing through Nathan. And he said, "Actual cathedral architecture will be done by David's son."(2 Sa 7:12-13)
He who is called by God, like David, is confirmed by action worthy of calling. At that time, God will be with him. The mission is done by those who have calling it. Being with God is adapting to the servant. I pray that everyone who has been summoned by God will be accompanied by God and have a life worthy of their servants.
